Job Description :
JOB DUTIES : Individuals will assist with recreational, educational, and interpretive activities; assist with preparation and organization of a variety of educational and interpretive programs within a recreational, natural, or cultural setting; assist with preparation of material for recreational and educational programs; set up and operate various audio-visual equipment. Naturalist programs are offered to a range of audiences and may include activities such as hiking, handling live animals, fishing, shooting sports, kayaking and more. Individuals will perform guest service activities such as collecting payment and office aide activities such as reservations, communication, completing forms, clerical functions, and inventory of supplies. Individuals will also assist with other events and activities throughout the Northeast Region.
Requirements / Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications : At least three months experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction, hospitality, historical, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework / training.
Other : Experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction or historical setting, retail or customer service setting, agricultural setting, or related coursework / training or experience. Prefer coursework, training or experience in education, natural sciences and outdoor recreation / skills. Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES : Knowledge of education practices and principles, wildlife or recreation, animal husbandry; culture, history, and recreational use of our park features and nature centers; storekeeping, food service, modern office methods and procedures, operation of various types of powered equipment and machinery, ability to drive a vehicle for work purposes. Ability to meet and deal effectively with the public, to understand and follow directions, make routine decisions, communicate effectively and apply proper phone etiquette.
