The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), Division of Plant Health and Compliance, is seeking to fill a vacant position of Agriculturist 2 in the Sparks office. This position will be tasked with assisting to coordinate the Nevada Hemp program which will include ensuring state alignment with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements per the 2018 Farm Bill. The Agriculturalist 2 will review applications for eligibility and coordinate with staff in performing site verification and sampling inspections. The incumbent will coordinate with state and federal partners. This position will be required to provide education and outreach involving program requirements and regulations to the public, local government, legislatures, among other groups. The incumbent will enforce regulations outline in Nevada Administrative Code. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in agricultural science or related field and one year of professional experience in agricultural inspection, seed certification, research, or enforcement of regulations related to agriculture and horticulture; OR one year of experience as an Agriculturist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
