Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This Biologist 4 position is the Southern Regional Game Supervisor and is responsible to coordinate with Game Division and field staff to effectively and efficiently conduct both field and data management work for the projects. This position will ensure that field staff has adequate direction and guidance, resources, and that critical communication between all stakeholders is maintained to meet the objectives of the projects. The Southern Regional Game Supervisor will occasionally accompany field staff to evaluate and ensure tasks are completed correctly and efficiently and to adapt guidance and field processes as unforeseen challenges arise. This position supervises 3 full time Southern Region Area Biologists and seasonal employees when available. Each position is responsible for certain Game Division projects. To Qualify
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field and four years of professional experience in wildlife, fisheries or habitat management; OR one year of experience as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations. Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required. Special Requirements Statewide travel and outdoor work is required. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
