This recruitment will be used to address current vacancies at High Desert State Prison (HDSP), in Indian Springs, Nevada. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Incumbents perform a wide range of patient care related functions to include patient assessment, care coordination, direct patient care as assigned by appropriate reporting protocol; health/safety management, and other duties as assigned. This position requires a high level of independence. Candidate must be reliable, have excellent communication skills and able to apply critical thinking, assessment, intervention, and evaluation skills and be able to make quick but accurate medical decisions. LPN must be able to work under pressure, adjust to change and work well as part of a health care team. Proficiency with relevant computer programs and maintaining professionalism in interactions are also essential. To Qualify

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, one year of which was providing nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting, individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, or patients in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (e.g., convalescent or nursing home). Special Notes Probationary employees working for the Department of Corrections must successfully complete 40 hours of "pre-service" training provided by the department. Must be able to work weekends The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required. Special Requirements Phlebotomy certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Intravenous (IV) certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
