Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for Psychiatric Caseworker 1 located at the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC), a 64-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth age 12 to 18 located in Elko, NV. NYTC's goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking through education, therapeutic treatment and appropriate medical and mental health services.
Psychiatric Caseworkers perform casework duties; monitor the progress of clients in treatment; assess and reassess the clients' level of functioning by interviewing clients, family members, and other community contacts; evaluate clients' needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; and refer clients to appropriate services according to the service/care coordination plan in order to meet clients' emotional, behavioral, social, financial, health, vocational, transportation, and basic living needs. The position will work as the point of contact between families and youth, be responsible for all aspects of Child Family Treatment meetings (CFTs), maintain youths' case plans, be an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, promote communication with the Youth Parole Bureau and assigned Youth Parole Counselors, update Youths Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI), coordinate the completion of youths' discharge documents, along with other duties as assigned. All duties assigned will comply with pertinent statutes and DCFS policy. This is a full-time position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm with holidays off. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and one year of experience assisting professionals in providing direct client care and implementing treatment and/or service/care coordination plans for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
