The Position
Security Officers provide security for State buildings and occupants, enforce laws and apprehend offenders.
This museum is part of the Division of Museums and History within Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. Work is performed at the Nevada State Museum and off-site facilities in Carson City and northern Douglas County. This position provides security for on-site and off-site facilities during business hours, events and after hours. The incumbent will conduct interior and exterior patrols of buildings and grounds, monitor and maintain video surveillance, alarm systems and securing facilities at closing. Security Officer will be responsible for responding and reporting security problems. The incumbent will assist with building evacuation during alarm activation and may occasionally work in emergency, stressful situations, provide security training and assists in the development of emergency response plans, policies, and procedures. Security Officers may need to assist in conducting visitor fee collection, customer service, audio tour rentals, and data collection during business hours and special events and may need to refers public inquiries and clients to the appropriate staff. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in public contact work which included applying and implementing rules, regulations or established policies OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions required working on evening, weekends, and/or holidays. Some positions require certification in CPR at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Some positions require first aid certification at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
