The Position
Financial Institutions Examiners conduct examinations in the Financial Institutions Division of the Department of Business & Industry.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is within the Financial Institutions Division located in Las Vegas. Duties include planning and prioritizing examinations effectively and ensuring all assignments are completed within established timeframes. Incumbents are responsible for verifying licensee compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. This position is involved with the Division's strategic planning, policy, and budget formulation. Incumbents will analyze collected information to write the Report of Examination as required by established policies and procedures and regulatory partners. Examination reports are presented to the institution's management and board of directors. The Report of Examination will include clear and accurate presentations of factual information and findings. Duties include encouraging and supporting employee suggestions for work improvement and coordinating team members' overall work assignments. Other responsibilities include coordinating team members' on-the-job training and ensuring compliance with established procedures for collecting and correlating information produced by other team members. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or related discipline and four years of increasingly responsible professional experience in conducting institutional examinations.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Appointment to the Examiner V class requires Certification by the Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) as a Certified Examinations Manager (CEM).
