The Position
Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class.
This position is an underfill for the Athletic and Recreation Specialist 1 located in Ely. The incumbent will be training in the developing or revising athletic and recreational activities due to cultural diversity and physical limitations for inmates, equipment and athletic facilities available; provide a broad range of athletic and recreational programs including, sports, hobby/crafts, social groups and academic and self-help education. They will recruit and schedule inmates, prepare rosters, provide instruction and explain rules, obtain and set up equipment, develop special programs for inmates. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree).

A pre-employment criminal background and fingerprint check is required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
