The PositionLicensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.This full-time Licensed Practical Nurse II position is located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, NV. Under immediate supervision, the incumbent will provide nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting in accordance with established nursing standards and DOC policies. Primary duties involve distribution of medications to inmates, processing refill requests, processing new medication orders, monitoring, and ordering floor stock medications. Other duties include by are not limited to, assisting medical providers during inmate appointments, assisting on the man down team and responding to potential medical emergencies. Incumbent must be reliable, able to work independently according to their scope of practice, able to function under pressure, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors, custody, medical staff, and patients. This position will have significant inmate contact.
