The Position
Museum Attendants assist visitors at museums and provide information and directions and perform routine security activities to ensure the safety of visitors and protect exhibits.

This is a position within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Division of Museums and History at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. This position is part-time, with a Thursday-through-Monday schedule year-round including all major holidays from May through October. Museum Attendants perform a broad range of tasks at museums including but not limited to visitor services such as providing general museum information and directions and also ensure the safety of visitors and museum assets. The position provides a variety of public services to museum patrons. Incumbents will be responsible for providing information, orientation and interpretive tours of permanent and changing exhibits. The position supports a range of administrative functions in various areas such as outreach activities, volunteer recruitment and management, volunteer orientation and scheduling, scheduling tours/school groups, handling cash assets and assisting in admissions, museum store, and depot as required. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience working with the public; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
