The Position
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This recruitment is for the Professional Engineering Specialist in the Geotechnical Section of the Materials Division in Carson City. Incumbent will perform analysis and design of geotechnical projects in accordance with appropriate design specifications and division policies, develop contract documents, and provide support services during project construction. Responsibilities also include providing division management with recommendations on interpretation and application of geotechnical design codes, development of policy and procedure documents, and continuous improvement to the standard specifications and plans. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as a technical expert on AASHTO policies, Transportation Research Board (TRB) and National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) or other research project committees. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a civil engineering field such as geotechnical, structural, water resources, transportation or construction engineering, and licensure as a Professional Engineer which included practical experience relevant to the assignment; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, completion of 12 units of graduate level coursework relevant to the assignment, licensure as a Professional Engineer, and one year of professional post-licensure civil engineering experience; OR five years of professional experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer performing engineering work relevant to the assignment.
Special Notes
Any person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
Positions may require specialize education and experience which will be identified at the time of recruitment.
As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
