The State of New Hampshire, Department of Corrections, Division of Rehabilitative Services has a full-time vacancy for a Business/Computers Instructor - Professor.
Summary:
Performs all the professional duties of an instructor of educationally disabled and/or educationally disadvantaged students in the Career and Technical Education Center- Corrections Special School District (CSSD) setting to both male and/or female offenders at other correctional facilities and administers, directly and indirectly, the rules and operational routines necessary for maintaining a safe and secure correctional environment while working in close and immediate contact with prisoners on a daily basis, having responsibility for security. To instruct students in one or more subjects within a relevant technology or academic area as outlin ed in a prescribed program curriculum. Ensures education program and policy requirements are met for offenders as determined through departmental, state and federal guidelines.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TI/COLLEGE INSTRUCTOR:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in business administration, business education, the computer field or other related field.
Experience: Three years' experience in teaching, business or industry in the field computers and business education.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical school with major study in business administration, business education, the computer field or other related field.
Experience: Five years’ experience in teaching, business or industry in computers and business education.
OR
Education: Twenty-five Professional Credits. Applicants will be evaluated by the Technical Institute if they use this qualification method.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be appropriately endorsed by the NH Department of Education (DOE), Bureau of Credentialing, as a qualified educator in one of the following areas: #3000-Information Technology, #2300-Business Management and Administration, #0350-Education Technology Integrator, or #0300-Comprehensive Business Education. Responsibilities:
- Prepares lesson plans and activities based upon occupational analyses in order to provide relevant training for inmates in area of certification. Instructs in an assigned schedule in classroom or laboratory setting.
- Supervises inmate/students in career and technical education activities in order to provide them with relevant hands on experience under actual or simulated conditions.
- Maintains contacts with trade and industry personnel in appropriate fields in order to keep inmate/student training up to date. Reviews instructional material to design tests, lesson plans and outlines which reflect current changes in the field.
- Maintains all paperwork, reports, grades, attendance data, etc. as required by the Career andTechnicalEducationCenter. Maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments, consults with and interprets these to students.
- Demonstrates technical procedures and practices in order to train inmate/students in the same procedures and practices.
- Performs a full teaching schedule in classroom and laboratory in order to provide inmate/students with training in the prescribed discipline.
- Requisitions necessary equipment, supplies, and materials in order to provide for a smooth flow of inmate/students projects.
- Attends meetings of committees such as staff development, fire safety, etc. in order to plan for and monitor related activities.
- Performs various security related functions such as counting inmates, and securing hazardous tools and equipment in order to maintain security in the area.
- Implements a staff development Professional Growth Plan to maintain educator certification and assure continued development of skills and knowledge vital to the position.
- Performs all additional duties and/or assignments as determined by NHDOC and/or the CSSD administration.
- Develops a variety of high school/college level certificate programming/agreements in appropriate areas.
