Hourly Range: $19.96/hour - $25.40/hour

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Information Technology, Infrastructure & Operations Division - Data Base Administration has a full-time vacancy for a Computer Operator III.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Summary: Monitor the operations of a computer room and its systems in order to process a variety of reports, run applications, and be responsible for archiving NHES data to satisfy government requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with major study in data processing or computer-related disciplines. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Two years' experience in computer operations in a large scale environment. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
OR
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Four years' experience in computer operations in a large scale environment.
License/Certification: Must be eligible to hold a valid New Hampshire driver's license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel.
Responsibilities:
- Operates and monitors system computers, tape drives, and printers.
- Tests and debugs new programs and applications for the programmers.
- Trains and instructs computer operators to assure proficiency in system operation.
- Responsible for getting correct tapes to the data librarian for off-site storage.
- Responsible for notifying supervisor and documenting any problems with any of the hardware in the computer room.
- Schedules workload to insure that jobs get done in a timely manner.
- Works with minimal supervision.
