The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Bridge Design has a full-time vacancy for Project Engineer (Civil Engineer V).
SUMMARY: To evaluate and manage the planning and design processes for the project development of bridge structures for the Bureau of Bridge Design.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS : Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in Civil Engineering, or possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in Civil Engineering and possession of a Master of Business Administration degree from an accredited institute of higher education.
Experience: One year of work experience in the practice of Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structural engineering, post Professional Engineer licensure.
OR
Education: Bachelor's of Science degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in Civil Engineering.
Experience: Three years of work experience in the practice of Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structural engineering, post Professional Engineer licensure.
OR
Education: Associate's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with a major study in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Experience: Five years of work experience in the practice of Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structural engineering, post Professional Engineer licensure.
License/Certification:
Monitors, reviews, and participates in the development of engineering studies, cost estimates, contract plans, and contract proposals for bridges and related items in order to insure that all work is in compliance with project requirements, state specifications, and national engineering codes.
Coordinates between the Bureau of Bridge Design, other bureaus or agencies and consultants by providing and obtaining information, approvals, and permits necessary for the design and construction of projects.
Advises, appraises and supervises bureau personnel and/or consultants and the progress of work to maintain productivity, assure proper development of projects, and promote an understanding of bureau policies and standards.
Researches, analyzes, and evaluates design methods, technology and construction practices to arrive at recommendations which assure safe, practical, and economical bridges and roadways.
Conducts on-site investigations, reviews alternatives, and suggests actions to public officials, department administrators and consultants for correcting problems related to existing bridges.
Represents the Bureau of Bridge Design at formal public hearings, at informal meetings and discussions, and at departmental meetings to present and discuss project plans and answer questions relative to project needs and bureau policies.
Performs administrative duties as required to insure continuity of project development and responsiveness to requests by public officials.
Seals and signs design documents in conformance with Department’s policy.
