Why does the job exist?
This position will be responsible for performing administrative tasks and providing financial support for the Ground Water Quality Bureau (GWQB) overseen by the GWQB Financial Manager and the Water Protection Division (WPD) Financial Manager, and will offer support to the GWQB Bureau Chief, Program Managers, staff, and other WPD Bureaus.
How does it get done?
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in budget preparation, budget monitoring, governmental accounting, and/or federal grant reporting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Occasional overtime and limited travel is required.

- Assist with tracking budgets and revenue
- Complete reconciliations including: payroll, vehicle, and grants
- Work on cost package assembly
- Prepare required adjusting journal entries
- Help with travel reimbursements and processing vehicle logs
- Use the the Statewide Human Resources Accounting and Management Reporting System (SHARE)
- Take on other financial and administrative tasks in support of the Ground Water Quality Bureau (GWQB) and Water Protection Division (WPD)
- New Mexicans to protect and restore the environment
