The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five, and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
This position ensures registered home child care providers are compliant with both Federal and State of New Mexico regulations; to protect the health, safety and development for children in New Mexico.
How does it get done?
This position conducts home visits and surveys of registered home child care providers to determine compliance with applicable state and/or federal regulations. This position will investigate complaints and/or incidents to ensure appropriate action is adhered to in a timely manner. They plan, attend, and participate in hearings across the state and conduct follow up visits/surveys to ensure compliance. This position also provides training and technical assistance to registered child care providers to better improve the quality of child care services in the State of New Mexico.
Who are the customers?
All non-licensed family child care homes within the state of New Mexico who are intending to participate in the child and adult care food program or the child care services programs.
Ideal Candidate
All non-licensed family child care homes within the state of New Mexico who are intending to participate in the child and adult care food program or the child care services programs.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience as a social or community coordinator and/or social worker assistant. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required
