The Child Support Legal Assistant I will:
Interview, gather data and prepare legal documents to establish paternity;
Establish and enforce child, medical and spousal support orders.
How does it get done?
The Child Support Legal Assistant I is responsible for:
Providing excellent time management, multitasking and organizational skills in order to complete the tasks of establishing and enforcing court orders;
Testifying in court upon request pertaining to child support cases.
Who are the customers?
Parties of child support cases;
Employers;
Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.
Ideal Candidate
Parties of child support cases;
Employers;
Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social health, or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office may substitute for education on a month-for-month basis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results;
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License;
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. May need to testify in court hearings.
