DOH-PHO-Children's Medical Services
Why does the job exist?
Provide direct client services for medically and financially eligible clients to attain mutually determined goals; gather, Generate and maintain appropriate records and accurate completion of forms for social work intervention, expand, enhance and contribute to the improvement of services of the Children's Medical Services land related information needed to assure accurate, competent, and professional implementation of the Children's Medical Services program and the Public Health Division Mission statement.
How does it get done?
To provide direct client services to clientele. Will provide services to multi-ethnic, mono-lingual population, and provide assurance of services for children and youth with special healthcare needs. Services will be addressed on an individual, family, and systems level.

The Public and Children's Medical Services Program participants.
Ideal Candidate
The Public and Children's Medical Services Program participants.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Social Work (in accordance with NMAC 61-31-9) and two (2) years of experience in a social work setting such as social service agencies, healthcare, medical, educational settings, mental health, home health, hospice, developmental disabilities, and other relevant experience, working with patients, clients, providers, and families. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be a Licensed Social Worker in the State of NM with a LBSW, LMSW, LCSW for LISW. A Provisional License will be accepted contingent on passing the test before it expires and obtaining a license.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated August 12, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all Covid related requirements prescribed by CMS, including but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
