Why does the job exist?
This position will be responsible for final review of applications to determine applicants have met the standards for registration. Incumbent will provide documentation regarding applications to the Exam Reciprocity Committee. This includes investigating complaints at the direction of the Board of Examiners for Architects Enforcement Subcommittee and working with the Rules and Regulation Committee regarding changes to the Rules and acts as the liaison with the State Records and Archives regarding rule changes, hearings, and notices.
Preference will be given to applicants with an ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.
How does it get done?
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. In-state and out-of-state travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

How does it get done?
- Investigate complaints filed with Board alleging violations of the Architectural Act in regard to unlicensed, licensed individuals and applicants.
- Investigation includes fact finding, compiling documentation, interview(s) of complainant, visits to project sites where violations have occurred and examines pertinent documentation which validates or discredits allegation of violation(s), based on findings, creates reports and/or spreadsheets to validate and/or justify findings, the report(s) are provided to the Board's Enforcement Subcommittee.
- Reviews applications and investigates the candidate for registration/licensure to ensure applicant meets the requirements of the Architectural Act, Rules, and Regulations on monthly basis.
- Work with the Enforcement Subcommittee to resolve the number of cases prior to issuance of a Notice of Contemplated Action.
- Creates, updates, and maintains internal reports, spreadsheets of investigations/complaints and updates the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards disciplinary database on settlement agreements.
- Audit registrants who successfully meet the continuing education requirements after each renewal year.
- Responsible for preparing rule changes, working with Rules and Regulation Committee to review and approve all rule changes of the Board, meet State Record and Archives deadline of submitting rule changes to be published and preparing packets of the rules with changes, finding a transcriber for all Board rule hearings and all disciplinary hearings.
