Why does the job exist?
The Customer Service Representative - I position exists to support the New Mexico Museum of Space History located in Alamogordo. Under the guidance of the Account and Auditor Supervisor, this entry level position is responsible for providing customer service, as well as accurate clerical, cash handling, and other administrative support for the museum, theatre, and division as a whole in a professional manner.
How does it get done?
Key responsibilities include :
- Operating computerized ticketing system;
- Answering incoming phone calls and providing requested information, transferring calls, and relaying accurate and complete messages.
- Assisting finance, administration, and education in clerical duties.
- Assisting with the security and safety of visitors and staff.
Who are the customers?
This Customer Service Representative - I sees that the general public including museum visitors, museum staff, members, friends, and national / international communities, have a pleasant, memorable, and safe experience, and to also support museum staff on a daily basis.
Ideal Candidate
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year work experience in office administration and / or customer service including cash handling. Positive welcoming attitude, attention to detail, team player, cultural sensitivity, multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or equivalent.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work performed at the Reception / Front Desk area setting with long periods of computer exposure, typing / data entry, cash / credit card money handling, and frequent telephone usage. Walking, squatting, and lifting up to 25 lbs. At all times, must be conscious of safety for themselves, coworkers, and visitors.
