Why does the job exist?
This position will provide highly skilled services to developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill individuals in a residential, home-based and community setting. Incumbent will monitor individuals medical, physical and emotional well-being, participate in treatment programs and assist with personal hygiene, as well as, technical assistance to less experienced technicians. Incumbent will also be responsible for daily documentation to include services performed, individual's condition and progress.
How does it get done?
The key responsibilities for this position is to provide and mentor daily living skills while ensuring the health and safety of the individual served. Employee's in this position are required to provide these services in a 24/7 setting. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies throughout Valencia County.

Adult individual's who are developmentally disabled and could display behavioral challenges and/or medical challenges.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma and one (1) year of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting as well as in the community-based homes of the individual. Position requires the ability to lift/push/transfer and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 100 pounds with assistance. The incumbent may be exposed to unpredictable violent behavior of the individual. Daily driving is required to meet the needs for individuals served. Occasional overnight stay may be required. Specific geographic location for this position will vary depending on agency needs and utilization. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching are essential functions of this job.
