Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico's dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state. The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services. This position is responsible for directing and managing all fiscal, budget, accounting and audit operations for the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC). Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

The Event Coordinator exists to support the mission and scope of the National Hispanic Cultural Center by helping build the Center's reputation as a premier location for community, statewide, and national rental events.
How does it get done?
The NHCC Events Coordinator position at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque facilitates essential rental operations for the NHCC's campus, including corporate conferences / retreats / private meetings, weddings, Quinceanera's, group meet-ups as well as additional events not part of the NHCC programing known as community partnerships. This work includes support for set up and tear down of events. The coordinator also supports by maintaining a scheduled calendar of all NHCC events, including NHCC Productions, it is critical to setting rental events and bringing in additional resources as well as new and returning constituents to the NHCC. Before, during, and after these rentals on campus the coordinator supports by providing support for load in / load-out, conducting safety checks, and providing revenue data and other data reports for rentals on campus.
Who are the customers?
This position serves visitors of all ages in the National Hispanic Cultural Center's local community of Barelas, greater Albuquerque, the State of New Mexico, and on a national basis in alignment with the mission of the National Hispanic Cultural Center by advancing, preserving, and promoting understanding of Hispanic arts, culture, and humanities via rentals and community partnerships.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this post is someone who can effectively multi-task with strong attention to detail to provide excellent customer service to our renters and community partners.
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and / or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Office setting, exposure to Visual / Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. This is also an outdoors based position for load in days and tear down / set up of rentals or community partners. Some travel within the state may be required. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
