The State Treasurer serves as the chief banker and investment officer of the state of New Mexico. As such, the State Treasurer's Office provides cash management to state agencies, invests to the state agencies and local government investment pools, administers New Mexico's Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) and retirement savings programs, validates bank activity, acts as the paying agent on the state's outstanding debt/bond issues, and enforces the states collateral policy on financial institutions holding state money.

This position provides support to the Cash Management Division by assisting in daily reconciliation of agency transactions, researching and resolving unmatched books versus bank transactions and processing return items for state agencies. This position also processes fraud packages relating to bank fraud for numerous state accounts.
How does it get done?
This position assist with daily reconciliation of agency transactions. Audits unmatched books against bank transactions and ensure proper accounting has been created then reconcile the transactions. Process returned items for numerous state agencies.
This position assist with processing fraud packages relating to bank fraud for state accounts. Collects information related to the fraud from agencies and works with the state fiscal agent to attempt to recover funds.
This position assist in Status Monitoring of Bank and Accounting Transactions, Researches and provides information on the status of bank and accounting transactions. Provides images and transaction information to necessary parties as needed. Provides daily support to state agencies regarding bank and accounting inquiries.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and two (2) years of directly related experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from a college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. For use at the State Investment Council only: any budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing experience is acceptable.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some travel may be required.
