The NM Department of Health's Center for Medical Cannabis works to enroll patients in the Medical Cannabis Program and ensure compliance with statute, rules, and regulations regarding enrollment. The Center for Medical Cannabis also educates individuals, community partners, law enforcement, judiciary, and other partners regarding the effects of cannabis use. The program also gathers and compiles statistics on patient use and access

The position provides outreach and education, including the development of training materials for the Center for Medical Cannabis. The position also helps with the gathering, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of health information regarding medical cannabis and cannabis use.
How does it get done?
The position works closely with the Center for Medical Cannabis Health Education Program Manager and Medical Director to provide outreach and create educational materials. Provides presentations to constituents and stakeholders. Organize public meetings. Review patient applications. Work with the patient registry development and use, including generating
reports. Other duties as assigned.

Customers include patients, the general public, coworkers, law enforcement agencies, community partners, other state agencies, and internal Department of Health partners.
Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualification
Associate degree in Public or Health Education and two (2) years of experience in health related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT (HIPAA) course. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to forty (40) pounds may be required. Potential for exposure to communicable disease. Infrequent in-state travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
