The Law Enforcement Records Bureau gathers, analyzes, and disseminates criminal justice data used by New Mexico law enforcement, criminal justice, corrections, courts, and civil agencies to ensure public safety. The bureau maintains complete and accurate records and responds to the needs of the public, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies providing support and customer engagement through our many applications, programs, and services to achieve the mission objectives.

The Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) Coordinator manages the intake, organization, and production of responsive IPRA data for public requests in compliance with agency policies, state, and federal laws. They review documents, videos, audio files, and other materials to identify exemptions and redact confidential information as required. Additionally, the Coordinator provides guidance to departmental staff on public records compliance, collaborates with the DPS Office of Legal Affairs to ensure adherence to legal exceptions, and exercises judgment to protect sensitive information.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Successful employment is contingent upon passing a national fingerprint-based background check prior to employment. Continued employment requires a felony-free record, in compliance with Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy. Statewide travel is required, and the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver's license
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Some statewide travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation for work-related travel.

How does it get done?
- Prepare and Maintain Reports (10%): Develops and updates statistical reports for DPS management, the Office of Legal Affairs, and other stakeholders, ensuring accuracy of the IPRA Log.
- Coordinate and Manage Data Requests (60%): Collaborates with DPS staff to identify, organize, and produce data for public records requests in compliance with IPRA policies and laws, ensuring timely processing.
- Process Sensitive and Complex Requests (10%): Handles materials responsive to subpoenas, media inquiries, and complex IPRA requests, such as officer-involved shootings, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Provide Oversight and Assistance (15%): Serves as the first contact for operational IPRA coordinators, reviewing their requests for accuracy and compliance, while providing guidance and resolving issues.
