Public Health is a Division of the New Mexico Department of Health. The Southeast Region Public Health Division consists of 8 counties with 10 public health offices. Each office houses diverse staff members offering services promoting healthy behaviors to have a better quality of life.
Why does the job exist?
This part-time position provides MAT (Medication Assisted Treatment) services to clients who have experienced opiate use disorder. This position will be working in support of public health staff to provide these services and to promote the MAT program through various means of health promotion. One of the various means could be through a telehealth system where the client cannot be at the clinic in person.
How does it get done?
Mostly through face-to-face interaction through appointments made. There could be a possibility of telehealth playing a role in providing this service. Assessments and screening will aid in assisting the clients through the MAT program as well as providing client education and counseling pertaining to the condition. Moderate travel may be necessary.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum Qualification
Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), must possess prescriptive authority and may require DEA registration in New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
