Why does the job exist?
To provide direct client services to clientele. Will provide assurance of services for patients and clients. Services will be addressed on an individual, family, and systems level.
How does it get done?
Provide direct client services for medically and financially eligible clients to attain mutually determined goals; gather, generate and maintain appropriate records and accurate completion of forms for social work intervention, expand, enhance and contribute to the improvement of services of the New Mexico Rehabilitation Facility program; develop and maintain personal skills knowledge and understanding of New Mexico Rehabilitation Facility and related information needed to assure accurate, competent, and professional implementation of the New Mexico Rehabilitation Facility.

Patients in need of Rehabilitation for Chemical Dependency or Medical Rehabilitation.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have experience with case management; good communication skills; and the ability to multi-task. Must be a licensed Social Worker in line with the State of New Mexico with LBSW, LMSW or LISW. A provisional license will be accepted contingent on passing the test.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Sciences, Social Work, or Counseling and two (2) years of experience in mental health and / or substance abuse counseling. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. The incumbent may be exposed to mentally and / or behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable potentially violent behavior in volatile situations. The ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
