Aging and Long-Term Services Department's (ALTSD) mission is the belief that New Mexico¿s older adults and adults with disabilities have the right to remain active participants in their communities, to age with respect and dignity, to be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation and to have equal access to health care. The Long-Term Care programs at ALTSD administer home- and community-based programs to allow older adults to thrive in their homes and communities to reduce nursing home placements and emergency department visits.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance, and Counseling, Education,
Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social
service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related
field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Pre-employment background investigation is required. Must pass State and Federal criminal background check. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within 90 days of employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting and community setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier, and other related office equipment. Occasional after hours and occasional weekends may be required. Extensive travel throughout the state.

- Oversee program rules and eligibility for New MexiCare
- Provide technical assistance and support to participants, caregivers, and contractors
- Resolve complex client eligibility and payment issues
- Conduct in-home visits and complete assessments;
- Track and report for KPI's and Performance Measures, accurately and timely, as established by the agency
- Assist the program with other duties as assigned.
At the direction of the Division/Program Director, the New MexiCare Program Coordinator is responsible for:
- New MexiCare program oversight and support to include eligibility determinations, financial assessments, and presenting on New
- Tracking and monitoring of participants and caregivers cases, to include eligibility status, budget status, service planning, and follow up as
- Provide technical assistance and support to participants, caregivers, and contractors including resolving complex client eligibility and
- Conduct in-home visits and complete assessments (15% of time spent)
- Track and report for KPI's and Performance Measures, accurately and timely, as established by the agency (5% time spent)
- Other duties as assigned
