The Cannabis Control Division provides efficient licensing, compliance, and regulatory services to ensure the safe production, testing, sale, and consumption of commercial and medical cannabis by ensuring that licensed individuals are qualified to provide services in the cannabis industry. The Division issues licenses to cannabis producers, microbusiness producers, integrated microbusinesses, manufacturers, retailers, consumption areas, vertically integrated establishments, couriers, and testing and research laboratories. Additionally, the Division works in concert with the Department of Public Safety, Office of the State Engineer, Environment Department, other state agencies, tribes and pueblos to assist applicants to get licensed and assure compliance with all applicable state and local laws.
Why does the job exist?
The Office and Administrative Support will provide administrative support to the Cannabis Control Division's Compliance Manager and Compliance Team.
How does it get done?
This position provides efficient administrative support and quality customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to : Customer Service, Records Management and Compliance Administration. Functions include :
- Assign incoming complaints to Investigators, enter complaint information into the complaint data base, generate acknowledgment and status letters to complainants and respondents, and monitor complaint statuses;
- Assist Compliance Manager and Compliance Officers with assigning and scheduling inspections, vehicle reservations and financial preparation for travel;
- Intake corrective action plans from licensees, update tracker and records and monitor compliance with corrective action plans;
- Prepare written correspondence, statistical reports and status updates;
- Process Inspection of Public Records Act requests;
- Ensure timely, respectful and accurate communication with applicants, licensees, complainants, respondents, attorneys and other stakeholders to provide information and answer questions about complaint, investigation and inspection requirements, whether they are telephonic, electronic, or in person; and
- Handle difficult customer situations with diplomacy and in a professional manner in order to achieve a successful outcome.

Our customers are licensed individuals, establishment owners or applicants from the cannabis industry and members of the public who are dependent on, or have an interest in the products and services the cannabis industry provides.

The successful candidate must understand priorities and demonstrate the ability to proactively anticipate needs, drive improvements, complete tasks and projects with a thorough attention to detail, multi-task, and work independently. Exceptional data clean up and management, organization, communication (writing and verbal) and interpersonal skills are a must.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of directly related experience in office administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License and successfully pass a background check.
Working Conditions
This position is office-based, involving extensive use of personal computers and phones, with prolonged periods of sitting. The selected candidate will work under stress and frequent time constraints and may require occasional statewide travel and over time. This position does not require supervision of employees.
