Why does the job exist?
This position is assigned to Brantley Lake State Park. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all of facilities and the water system at the park, for the safety and convenience of park visitors. Under supervision, this position is dedicated towards ensuring all buildings, structures, plumbing, HVAC, and equipment are operating and safe at all times. This position will also assist with general maintenance of boating facilities and operate and maintain vehicles and equipment. This position will perform administrative duties necessary for this position, as well as those required to meet the needs of the park, including collection and verification of revenues due to the state.
How does it get done?
Maintaining park facilities and equipment up to Division standards with limited financial and staff resources. This requires the ability to recognize items that need attention, prioritize these needs, and allocate the available resources needed, while conserving these resources for the other items that need attention. The incumbent in this position must have knowledge and experience in general construction, facilities and equipment maintenance, time management, staff management, good communication skills and the ability to multi-task. The incumbent in this position requires the ability to communicate with the general public in order to gain public compliance with state park rules and policies for the safety and enjoyment of others, as well as the preservation of the park's natural and cultural resources.

Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the park for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas of the park.
Ideal Candidate
Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the park for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas of the park.
Minimum Qualification
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months of equivalent experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
The position is labor intensive to include: digging, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting, as well as standingfor long periods of time. The position requires the use of various hand and power tools, as well as operatingvehicles and heavy equipment. One may be required to work in adverse weather conditions, extreme coldand heat for extended periods of time. Shift work may be required on holidays or during park events.Emergency maintenance situations may also arise requiring extended hours of work. Sitting at a desk or computer workstation is also required. Must be willing to accept assignment/transfer to another geographic location. Extensive travel in region wide area. Weekend/holiday work required.
