Why does the job exist?

The Recruiter implements recruitment strategies to increase the pool of prospective resource foster homes for each county in the region. The recruiter documents all inquiries and evaluates recruitment strategies individually to assess quality and completeness as per CYFD policy and procedures. The recruiter partners with agency staff to solicit feedback and elicits collaboration in recruitment efforts.

How does it get done?

The Recruiter implements recruitment strategies to increase the pool of prospective resource foster homes for each county in the region.

  • Seeks and identifies appropriate venues that target the areas of need to market and promote the need for prospective resource foster families for children in care.
  • Networks with county staff, supervisors, managers, foster parents, stakeholders and each community at large.
  • Coordinates monthly recruitment activities in each county including media and public outreach to promote resource foster parent information meetings and pre-service training opportunities.
  • Prepares and delivers recruitment materials for promotion of resource foster parenting for each county.
  • Seeks and participates in recruitment booths at county events that promote resource foster parenting programs.
  • Solicits donation of booth fee waivers or other needs for purpose of recruitment events.
  • Educates potential families about the resource foster parenting process and what the needs of the agency are in each specific county.
  • Collaborates with regional navigator staff to provide warm hand off of inquiring family after application is received.
  • Provides up to date state and local data on number of children in foster care, number of children awaiting adoption without an identified resource as well as amount of currently licensed resource families in each county.
  • Develops and sustains relationships with local media, such as radio, newspapers, and TV and utilizes these to send public service announcements and press releases. Arranges and participates in interviews in collaboration with the Communications Director and COMMS team.
  • Seeks, arranges and participates at a minimum of bimonthly speaking community outreach opportunities in each county to include but not limited to the faith-based community, chambers of commerce, rotary clubs, Lions clubs, Kiwanis clubs, business community, PTAs, daycare's, large employers, etc.

The recruiter documents all inquiries and evaluates recruitment strategies individually to assess quality and completeness as per CYFD policy and procedures.

  • Prepares inquiry packets that includes information about the resource foster parenting licensing procedures, agency support and specific information related to the county of inquiry.
  • Within two business days of receiving the inquiry, contacts the family to discuss the licensing process and answer questions they may have.
  • Documents each contact in the FACTS / Binti / NM Impact narrative.

  • Mails inquiry packet to potential resource foster families within two business days of inquiry.
  • Follows up with all inquiries by phone, email, text or mail to assist families in understanding the licensing process and next steps for completing an application, answer questions or inform them the application has been received. Contact occurs up until the time the family submits an application or the inquiry is terminated.
  • Documents all contacts made with the families in FACTS / BINTI / NM Impact.
  • Terminates inquiries no later than 45 days from the date of inquiry if documented follow up contact with the family is unsuccessful.
  • The recruiter partners with agency staff to solicit feedback and elicits collaboration in recruitment efforts.

  • Participates in individual supervision and engages in constructive feedback with the supervisor.
  • Attends unit meetings as scheduled and engages as a team member.
  • Attends and reports recruitment efforts at scheduled general staff meetings in each county.
  • Upon request, participates in unit meetings with the placement staff or any other unit.
  • Utilizes monthly plan outline to report on recruitment activities and outreach opportunities on a per month basis.
  • Collaborates within the unit and Manager to maintain an adequate supply of materials for distribution.
  • Assists the unit in identifying and obtaining quotes to purchase recruitment materials.
  • Responsible for equipment and inventory as related to recruitment ¿ tables, canopies, tablecloths, dollies, signage, banners, literature, popcorn machines, sno-cone machines or other materials for purposes of recruitment.

  • High level of experience working with the care of children.
  • High level of experience working with children in home care
  • Experience in Recruitment.
  • Minimum Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited college / university and licensure by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at the LBSW, LMSW, or LISW level or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with NM requirements OR a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or Family Services from an accredited college / university and one (1) year of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service-related matters, social work / case management experience, behavioral health, and / or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

  • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
  • If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
  • Employment Requirements

    Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in an office setting : late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.

    Bargaining Unit Position

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms / conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.

    Salary : $41,522 - $66,434
