    The Social & Community Services Coordinator III / Workforce Development and Training Coordinator will :

  • Identify and promote promising practices among New Mexico's Behavioral Health (BH) and BH related service systems;
  • Develop and implement BH workforce strategies to overcome difficulties finding or recruiting interested qualified providers across all BH professional disciplines;
  • Identify, coordinate and track trainings in management and leadership skills, treatment approaches including evidence-based best approaches and integrated care;
  • Assignments of special projects which include contract and grant, implementation and oversight.
  • How does it get done?

    The Social & Community Services Coordinator III / Workforce Development and Training Coordinator is responsible for :

  • Synthesizing and distributing recommendations on strategies for improving the quality and relevance of BH workforce recruitment, retention, education and training.;
  • Convening expert panels to identify best practices in workforce development.;
  • Identifying innovation in workforce development through national searches for innovative workforce practices, with reviews of these practices by panels of workforce experts;
  • Identifying strategies and tactics for overcoming the obstacles to improving workforce development practices;
  • Disseminating information to stakeholders about best practices, and innovative strategies.

  • Ideal Candidate

    The Ideal Candidate has :

  • Familiarity with the diverse range of behavioral health practitioner licensing or practice boards in New Mexico;
  • Understanding of current national and local behavioral health workforce challenges;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience working with contracts and grant oversight;
  • Minimum Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education,

    Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and / or Family Studies / Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work / case management experience, behavioral health, and / or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related

    field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

  • Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
  • If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
  • Employment Requirements

    Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

    Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation and is conditional pending results.

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed in an office setting : late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.

    Bargaining Unit Position

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms / conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
