Description of Work
This is a managerial position that also requires technical expertise in modern printing production and manufacturing processes. The purpose of this position is to manage the daily production schedule of the Nash Print Plant, which will include but is not limited to organizing and directing of work, monitoring the quality of work being produced, evaluating equipment requirements, responding to customer inquiries (lead times, quotes, capabilities), performing personnel functions, conducting budget planning and reviews, short- and long-term equipment replacement planning. This position must be able to communicate effectively with staff, upper management and customers. This position is vital to the print plant’s operations because of the need to manage staff, workflow, quality of work, safety, equipment needs and personnel. This position must provide leadership and cultivate an atmosphere that will enhance the efficiency and growth of the print plant.
This position requires certification through Criminal Justice Standards and will be responsible for offender security in addition to their supervisory duties. Offender security includes, performing searches of offenders, objects and places capable of concealing contraband, personal property, buildings and outdoor areas, engaging in duties associated with escaped or fleeing offenders, conducting offender counts, administering first aid and emergency procedures, utilizing unarmed self-defense tactics, batons and emergency equipment, utilizing firearms and restraints, counseling and working with offenders in a variety of assignments.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits
As of January 1, 2025 there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $48,222.00 - $84,388. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Click HERE for specific certification requirements. Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver's license. Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility. Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.
