The primary purpose of the Chief Medical Officer's position is to direct and manage the Medical Department (psychiatry and primary care); to assure medical "best practices" by administratively and clinically supervising the medical staff, including psychiatric staff and the Medical Director, (who is responsible under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer for the direct supervision of the primary care staff,) to coordinate the Medical Department with the other departments in the facility, to supervise the functions of the Pharmacy departments and staff, to interface as appropriate with other community and state agencies, assure regulatory compliance, and other functions as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer / Facility Director.
Additional duties may include, but are not limited to :
Work schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm, with rotating on-call and occasional weekend or overnight coverage.
Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital
