Description of Work

This position is at Hyde Correctional Institution in Swan Quarter, NC. Employees in this class direct programs for the rehabilitation of inmates in the prison system. Responsibilities will include management of a minimum custody facility. Positions at this level are responsible for administering programs for inmates. The position functions as assistant to the Associate Warden for Programs. Position is responsible for directing major programs to include inmate classification, correctional programs including work release, incentive wage, study release, educational/vocational, volunteer programs, religion programs, cognitive-based interventions, recreation, and correctional counseling. Work involves supervision of subordinate employees who are responsible for the implementation, development, and maintenance of the programs on a daily basis. Position is responsible for coordinating programs with custody and other facility staff.

“As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range(s) will be $41,655 - $72,897.” Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Bachelor s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in correctional programs management or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
