Description of Work
The Correctional Training Coordinator I position# 60066994 (Central) is assigned to Apex location of Office of Staff Development & Training. Work is performed independently under the general direction from OSDT Operations Manager for Institutions.
This position of OSDT is responsible for focusing on institution trainings needs and concerns that may impede course instruction, generate reports to monitor completion of mandated training required within DAC Policy and expected practices of ACA (American Correctional Association), conduct quarterly meetings (in-person / web based) with the institution correctional training specialist, maintain statistical information relative to general instructors and certifications within the designated region, act as the designee for the OSDT Operations Manager for Institutions when directed, oversees training calendar within the region, and participate as an instructor or evaluator.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Coordination, planning, and implementation of courses of instruction to include instructor schedules for NEO (New Employee Orientation) within their appointed region
- Assist with (COBT) Correctional Officer Basic Training and / or (AIS) Annual In-Service Training at a training site for the agency's staff development and training programs as needed to comply with instructor / student ratios or intermittently due to staff shortages or vacancies
- Provide support to institutions without a designated correctional training specialist position and / or during interim time periods when the position is vacant or in the absence of a correctional training specialist
- Assess and respond to regional training needs and initiatives to fulfill the training requirements for certified and non-certified staff to include fulfilling other duties as assigned by the OSDT Operations Manager for Institutions
This position plays a vital role in the core operations of the Department of Adult Correction, directly impacting the effectiveness of its functions. Therefore, the individual in this role must follow the established policies and standard operating procedures that govern field-based positions and that of an essential purpose identified by the Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT). Adhering to these guidelines ensures that the specific requirements of the agency are met and that the overall mission is effectively supported.
Note : Weekend hours, extended hours, overnight travel, extended travel, and overnight stays at remote locations for extended periods of up to six weeks are required.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $45,926 - $80.369. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.
