This position is located within the Customer Service group of the NC Dept of Adult Correction's Correction Enterprises division, a $120 million "business" within state government that market and sells thousands of products and services to state and local governments and their employees. Â Products and services include, but are not limited to, wood furniture, apparel, highway signs, printing, upholstery and re-upholstery, metal, optical and food. Â This position is often the first point of contact for all customers calling, emailing, or visiting to place orders or conduct business with Correction Enterprises. Â This position must stay abreast at all times of products services, plant schedules, sales and customer service personnel assigned to production facilities. Â Must be capable of handling a heavy workload, including, but not limited to customer calls, customer showroom visits, and order entry. Â Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and be able to quickly learn and use the agency's databases - Business Information Data System (BIDS) and Global Shop. On occasion, this position will be required to work the agency's vendor booth at conferences and tradeshows. Â Some events will require overnight stay.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Demonstrated effective communication techniques, both orally and written.
  • Documented ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Demonstrated progressive customer service experience.
  • Documented experience resolving complaints, processing orders, reviewing complex orders, and multitasking.
  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience.

  • Per NC General Statute 143B-972.1, applicants hired into a position certified as a criminal justice officer or justice officer are required to electronically submit fingerprints to the NC State Bureau of Investigation for a state and national criminal history record check and enrollment in the FBI's Next Generation Identification System: Criminal Justice Record of Arrest and Prosecution Background Service ("RAP Back"). This is in addition to submitting fingerprints during the application process.
