About the Position:
The Deputy Logistics Section Chief is responsible for assisting the Logistics Chief in managing the procurement, storage and distribution of essential resources needed for emergency response. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the tracking of resources, to include food and water, equipment, and shelters/leases. This position will be responsible for transportation during both emergencies and normal operations while ensuring efficient logistical support for response teams and affected populations and simultaneously coordinating with other sections and partners in the Emergency Operations Center.

The Deputy Logistics Section Chief will lead and supervise the section's staff, to include monitoring performance and assigning task.

About Logistics Section:
The primary mission of the Logistics Section is to provide NCEM and the State Emergency Response Team with effective, efficient, and comprehensive services supporting emergency preparedness, response, and recovery operations.

About NCEM:
The mission of NC Emergency Management (NCEM) is to enhance North Carolina's resiliency through active collaboration, communication, and coordination of efficient and effective preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation of all natural and man-made hazards and threats.

To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs:

* Working knowledge of State and/or Federal procurement requirements.
* Experience with warehouse operations.
* Experience with facility acquisition process and/or procedures. 
* Working knowledge of budget management.

Management Preferences (Optional): These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

* Personnel management skills.
* Experience with State and/or Federal procurement policies. 
* Experience with deploying and/or tracking assets. Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience directing emergency planning or response activities including two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Military Experience

· Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD-214 Form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty that includes Character of Discharge - Member 4 or Service 2 form) to the application.

· Applicants seeking National Guard Preference:

o A current member of the North Carolina National Guard in good standing must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS).

o A former member of the North Carolina National Guard who served for at least 6 years and were discharged under honorable conditions, must attach either a DD256 or NGB 22.
