The Standards Division is a regulatory agency responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Weights and Measures Act (G.S. 81A), the Gasoline and Oil Inspection Law (G.S. 119), and the LP-Gas Inspection Law (G.S. 119 Article 5).Position involves standardized inspection and regulatory work in the State Weights & Measures inspection program. Duties involve the inspection of scales and price scanning systems used in retail trade for conformance to specification of design and construction, inspection of pre-packaged items for correct net weight content, labeling and computation. Inspection of motor fuels dispensers for conformance to specification of design and construction, testing of measurements and computations, possibly making minor repairs.Must reside within territory which includes the following counties: Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania. * Note* A math test will be administered as part of the interview process.A pre-employment fitness for duty test will be conducted at the expense of the Standards Division.Click Here to Learn more about State Employee Benefits. Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.Possession of a valid driver’s license.
