The Employment Specialist (HR Technician I)Â position is located at the Piedmont Region Employment Office (PREO) in Asheboro, NC and is responsible for providing recruitment and pre-employment screening for prospective applicants for certified positions in Prisons and Community Supervision work locations within the assigned service area. This position is a certified DCI operator. Â

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Performs background reviews and screening of Correctional Officer applicants in accordance with qualification guidelines and Criminal Justice Standards requirements
  • Ensures that applicant information is entered correctly in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) database
  • Works directly with Correctional Officer applicants, ensuring that applicant rosters contain qualified candidates to contact for interviews
  • Generates reports in Integrated HR-Payroll System (formerly BEACON), DCIN, NEOGOV, Indicium, Microsoft and other applications/software in the performance of duties

NoteÂ

  • Position must attend and successfully complete DCI certification and recertification as necessary to meet certification requirements
  • This position requires work overtime and overnight travel

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Demonstrated working experience with recruitment policies, practices, and/or processes
  • Experience working with the NC DAC Applicant Tracking System (ATS), EMS and NeoGov
  • Experience using DCI to perform criminal background reviews

Management Preferences

  • Applicant with current DCI certification

Associate's degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required

Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 19,000 employees. The division provides comprehensive personnel services to all divisions/units throughout the department. Central HR handles a wide range of responsibilities related to staffing and recruitment, benefits, policy administration, classification and compensation, organization development, data & analytics, performance, employee relations/equal employment opportunities, and safety administration.   • Per NC General Statute 143B-972.1, applicants hired into a position certified as a criminal justice officer or justice officer are required to electronically submit fingerprints to the NC State Bureau of Investigation for a state and national criminal history record check and enrollment in the FBI's Next Generation Identification System: Criminal Justice Record of Arrest and Prosecution Background Service ("RAP Back"). This is in addition to submitting fingerprints during the application process.
