This posting is for an Engineering Specialist I in our Fayetteville Roadside Environmental Unit and will assist the division Roadside Environmental Engineer to ensure contracts for Rest Area Maintenance, Selective Vegetation, Mowing, Sweeping, and Irrigation are prepared and administered correctly. Position will provide supervision and technical guidance to subordinate supervisor/crew to ensure successful delivery of work plan, providing prompt responses to maintenance needs in delivery of work plan, providing prompt responses to maintenance needs in the delivery of the Roadside Environmental Unit’s Program.Additional responsibilities of position will include, but not limited to, reviewing daily inspection reports, planning, reviewing, scheduling personnel, developing agreements, and project field reviews. Safety toe shoes required.
- Experience in contract administration and/or contract development.
- Experience in supervision, reviewing daily inspection reports, scheduling project personnel and project field reviews.
- Experience working with project plans, pay item quantities, proposals, estimates, and basic landscape guidelines.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of both roadside and maintenance operations with NCDOT.

Associate’s degree in an applicable area of engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and (6) six years of progressive technician experience; or
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and (8) eight years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
