Responsibilities

This position reports to the Correctional Programs Director I and works in the Programs Department at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Work in this position involves consultation and program administration in a specialized or targeted program area of assignment. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serving as lead consultant and program manager including associated administrative and/or business functions.
  • Developing and maintaining productive collaborative work relationships and assessing and responding to clients' needs.
  • Interpreting and applying program policies and practices.
  • Providing consultation and performing program administration.
  • Researching and analyzing, and performing program marketing.
  • Providing supervision of staff.
  • Possessing considerable knowledge of Programs' objectives and standards of operation (SOPs).
  • Possessing knowledge of rules, regulations and policies relating to offender custody and treatment.
  • Exercising judgement and discretion in establishing, applying and interpreting policies and procedures.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $41,655 - $72,897. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do no need to reapply.

The salary grade for this position is NC10 (Salary Range: $41,655 - $72,897). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in close and medium custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs for women. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (DAC) is one of the largest state agencies with more than 19,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its citizens through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes Institutions with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff in state prisons as well as the division of Community Supervision. The Division of Institutions is one of the divisions in DAC and employs a variety of staff, operates 56 institutions and is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30,000 incarcerated individuals across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into 3 custody levels, which include minimum, medium, and close. The Division of Institutions has a duty to provide a secure and safe environment along with the proper care and supervision for every individual, in our custody.
