Nurse Supervisor - CPHC

The Nurse Supervisor position is the highest level of nursing supervision and the Health Authority responsible for the daily management/operation of the facility nursing operation.  Position is located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders.  

Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of all nursing staff to include staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations.  The Nurse Supervisor supervises, and conducts needs assessments, develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans and provides patient care and education to offenders.   The position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short- and long-term goals to Leadership for review and approval.  
Position will perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing, and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resource management functions, and staff development.  

The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with Physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies, and others. The Nurse Supervisor must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility.

Work Schedule: This is a night shift position. Have flexibility to work 8hr shift 10:00 pm - 6:30 am and/or 10hr shift 10:00 pm - 8:30 am to staff the 24/7 operation of these facilities; according to the need.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess the following:

• Documented knowledge of professional nursing, techniques, and practices 
• Documented knowledge in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Documented knowledge of medications and carrying out prescribed treatments
• Documented knowledge of management and supervisory practices/procedures
• Documented knowledge of maintaining records and reports

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of nursing experience.

The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
