This position is located at the Division of Disability Determination Services (DDS) at the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, NC. This agency makes medical entitlement decisions on Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid disability claimsÂ
The primary purpose of the Office Assistant IV position is to provide clerical support to the Disability Determination Services staff members who are responsible for adjudicating disability applications. The Office Assistant position requires a higher level of technical skills. Â Changes in the advances in technology continue to change the complexity of this position. Â Software updates resulted in the procedural changes in clerical duties such as verifying and approving payment vouchers. Currently, this clerical function is more automated requiring more technical skills. The addition of new scanners has assisted with the updated technology and job performance. Â Currently, tasks are performed using a dual process, as some files are paper while others are electronic. This OA is responsible for planning and organizing the tasks so that deadlines are met and accurate and complete information provided to internal and external customers.
