Staff psychiatrists serve as team leaders for multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and treatment. In addition to the evaluation of patients upon admission, this position is responsible for providing inpatient psychiatric care which includes consultations, preparing written psychiatric assessments including treatment plans as well as administrative recommendations, chronic medication management, psychotropic drug reviews, provides consultation with medical staff as needed, and providing appropriate coordination and continuation of the care for residents in adherence to state and federal guidelines.
This opportunity offers a full-time work schedule, Monday – Friday (8 am until 5 pm) with a light call schedule.

- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and integrate care is essential Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement).
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adult patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (including legibility) are essential.
- The candidate should be able to demonstrate or learn proficiency with electronic medical record.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
“A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
