The Psychological Services Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for program management and supervision of the Behavioral Health programs in the Scotland County Hub.  Work involves planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating the system for delivery of mental health services, providing direct psychological services to offenders with a range of emotional and behavioral issues, and serving as a liaison between subordinate staff and management in the Scotland Hub.  

The PSC will establish program goals and objectives, set priorities and deadlines, and work with multidisciplinary staff to accomplish goals and address service delivery needs. This position provides input to facility and agency management on policy and service delivery issues and supervises staff to ensure operations are consistent with the overall mission of Behavioral Health. Program responsibilities include coordinating behavioral health services, developing work plans for mental health staff, consulting with the psychiatric providers assigned to the institution, and managing behavioral health staff to ensure staffing patterns and resources meet anticipated demands, training needs and licensure requirements. The range of clinical duties includes mental health triage/screening, crisis intervention, mental health assessment and treatment planning, individual and group therapy, suicide/self-injury assessment and management, Restrictive Housing reviews and evaluations, and participating in the on-call rotation. The PSC may also conduct risk assessments on offenders with a history of violent or sexual crimes.

Master's degree in psychology and two years of experience providing a full range of psychological testing and treatment, preferably in a correctional program. Necessary Special Qualifications: one must fulfill all requirements for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Psychological Associate under provisions specified by the Psychology Practice Act (G.S.#90-270) .

Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
