The Safety Officer will support the administration of the fleet safety program in Division 3. This includes evaluating heavy truck driver applicants by processing and interpreting driver record checks, coordinating and conducting road tests, and ensuring the training and certification of heavy truck drivers in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier requirements. The role also involves conducting safety-related training, such as new employee safety orientation, fleet safety, forklift operations, chainsaw operations, traffic control, flagger duties, first aid, and other training as directed by the safety consultant or division engineer. Additionally, the Safety Officer will maintain records of equipment accidents and personal injury statistics, assist supervisors in conducting unit monthly safety meetings, and perform safety and facility audits across the division. The position also involves coordinating audiometric testing for employees within the division and assisting with compliance with motor vehicle laws, safety and health regulations, and workers' compensation case management. Other related duties will be assigned as necessary. The Safety Officer will also support the training coordinator with LMS tasks as assigned. This position is a Division 3-wide posting reporting to the Clinton safety office location.Â
