What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker - Western Correctional Center For Women position at State of North Carolina?
Located in Black Mountain, NC, Western Correctional Center for Women is a minimum custody facility on a 100 acre compound that can house up to 366 inmates. This position responsibilities will include:
- Evaluate the offender’s situation and her ability to deal with it, developing a social history, psychosocial assessment, service plan and/or treatment plan and follow-up.
- Develop community or service resources.
- Perform assessments to identify needs and establish an appropriate service/treatment plan to provide supportive/directive counseling to inmates and families in addressing needs.
- Utilize knowledge of a range of services and of supportive level counseling and other counseling techniques to provide services.
- Utilize social work practices and theories, an understanding of the availability and interactions of a variety of community services and agencies and of a range of service providers.
- Utilize agency guidelines, specific state or federal standards, and principles of a variety of supportive counseling techniques to provide services. Referrals are documented in accordance with agency requirements.
- Work with inmates, families, habilitation/treatment teams in the development and implementation of treatment plans.
- Contact with other professionals is required in the coordination of services, programs and consultation.

As of January 01, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 01, 2025.
The salary grade for this position is NC11. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
