The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is looking for Staff Auditor I to assist with various performance audits that improve performance, strengthen accountability, and enhance transparency of state government programs. Visit www.studentaid.gov to learn more.As part of our team, you will get to: Work as part of a team to plan and conduct audits of a diverse range of topics and programs at entities that include state agencies, universities, community colleges, licensing boards, non-profits, and private companies that contract with the state.Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs under audit.Conduct on-site fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews, to determine risks impacting the program under audit and to identify processes and controls that mitigate program risks.Review and analyze source records and reports, programmatic data, financial and program documentation, and/or systems.Document the results of your work and any potential findings and recommendations.

The Office of the State Auditor (OSA)'s mission is to provide unbiased and irrefutable audit and investigative reports so legislators, government officials, agency leaders, and others can make informed decisions, hold entities accountable, and ensure good stewardship of public funds. This requires an organization that is competent, agile, and inspired by the work we do every day.The Office of the State Auditor uses the Merit-Based Recruitment & Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act (SHRA) with highly qualified individuals. To receive credit for work history and credentials, the applicant must list the information on the online application form underneath the Work Experience section, specifically "Duties Summary". Any information omitted from the application cannot be considered for qualifying credit. The State of North Carolina welcomes attached or incorporated resumes, cover letters, and reference information, but these items will not be used for screening or qualifying credit or in lieu of a completed and submitted state application. Applications for positions requiring specific coursework must be accompanied by a copy of the applicant transcripts (unofficial copies are accepted) to receive credit for this education. If applicants earned a foreign degree, foreign degrees require an official evaluation for U.S. equivalency and must be submitted to Human Resources for verification.
