The primary purpose of the Traffic Systems Operations section is to develop and implement regional and statewide Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) strategies to improve mobility and reliability on arterials and freeways.
The TSO Section is looking for the State TSMO Planning Engineer to manage the TSMO Planning Group. This supervisory position advances TSMO culture and philosophy in all stages of planning project implementation.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience including three (3) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

- Provide leadership, direction and supervision to staff
- Oversee contract management
- Serve as a subject matter expert on funding sources for TSMO projects
- Develop inter-department, inter-agency, government, community, and resource partnerships to accomplish TSMO strategic initiatives.
- Oversee and implement special corridor projects that focus on TSMO strategies
- Oversee the development and maintenance of planning maps/tools, the TSMO Budget and the TSMO Annual Report
- Provide oversight and maintain project delivery network documentation
- Develop and maintain a dashboard of performance metrics that enables data driven decisions
